About The Journal

The Journal of Dyscalculia Academy started its publication life with the decision taken by the Dyscalculia Association in 2022. The Dyscalculia Society, a non-profit and public interest non-governmental organization, attaches importance to improving the education system within the scope of its founding objectives and social responsibility policies. “Everyone Can Learn Mathematics!” With its motto, it serves to disseminate academic studies for the construction of an education system where individuals who have difficulties in learning mathematics and who have low success in mathematics can gain knowledge and skills, first in our country and then in the world.

The Aim of The Journal

Dyscalculia Academy Journal, published by The Dyscalculia Association, is a peer-reviewed journal. The Dyscalculia Association, a non-profit and non-governmental organization that considers social benefits, gives importance to improving the mathematics performance of individuals with dyscalculia and low mathematics achievement within the scope of its foundation goals and social responsibility policies.

The Dyscalculia Society aims to serve to conduct qualified research that have the potential to contribute to the quality of life of individuals with dyscalculia or low mathematics achievement through the Dyscalculia Academy Journal.

Focus and Scope

In line with the goals of the Dyscalculia Association, Dyscalculia Academy Journal focuses on to raise awareness of dyscalculia, the causes of dyscalculia, and diagnostic methods in the society and the education community, to ensure that current educational interventions are known for students with dyscalculia and low-achieving students in mathematics, to develop educational intervention methods for students with dyscalculia and low-achieving students in mathematics, and to help these students to develop mathematical skills.

The following topics are in the scope of the Dyscalculia Academy Journal.

• Studies analyzing the main problems and practices of students with mathematics learning difficulties and low achievement in mathematics in pre-school, primary, secondary, and high school level,

• Studies about developing skills and educational strategies of professionals or educators who actively help and work individuals with mathematics learning difficulties,

• Studies aimed at pre-service teachers who would contribute to the development of students with mathematics learning difficulties and low achievement in mathematics as more qualified teachers;

• Studies involving meta-analysis, content analysis, profile analysis, and studies involving large research groups or samples,

• Studies that may affect the personal, educational, and social development and career planning of students with mathematics learning difficulties at pre-school, primary, secondary, and high school levels,

• Theoretical or applied studies that develop and evaluate a new educational model for mathematics learning difficulties;

• Studies that develop and support the parents’ involvement whose children have learning difficulties or are low achievers in mathematics,

• Multidisciplinary studies including disciplines such as special education, mathematics education, educational psychology, and educational neuroscience,

• Studies in which educational instruments are developed and tested in terms of applicability, validity, and reliability for individuals with mathematics learning difficulties or are low achievers in mathematics,

• Technology integration studies that help to develop mathematics education applications for students have mathematics learning difficulties or are low achievers in mathematics.

Publication Frequency

Dyscalculia Academy Journal, an international peer-reviewed journal, is published two times a year, in June and December. Two special issues can be published in a year at most. Announcements for special issues are made at least one year in advance. The topics to be covered in the special issues are determined by the editorial board, considering the current discussions, in a way that would form the subject of the file and guide the education and education policies.

Publication Language

All sequential and special issues in Dyscalculia Academy Journal are published simultaneously in Turkish and English. Manuscript submission may be done in Turkish or English in the first stage. This manuscript should have a plain and clear language quality in accordance with the grammar rules of the submission language (Turkish or English) and scientific literature.

After the manuscript is accepted for publication, the final version of the paper should be prepared and submitted in both languages. The final versions of the full texts, prepared in both languages in Turkish and English, are checked by the language editors of the Dyscalculia Academy Journal. If the language editors reports that the language of the manuscript is insufficient, they may request to the authors to make their manuscript to proofread. The proofreading of the manuscript is made by the following accredited language institutions and the proof of the language editing is submitted to the editorial board. The manuscript without redaction and proof of the redaction would not be accepted for publication.

Sections of The Journal

Only Original Research Articles are published in the Dyscalculia Academy Journal.

Open Access Policy

Dyscalculia Academy Journal has adopted an open access policy. Open access increases the global exchange of information and causes beneficial consequences for humanity.

All manuscripts published in the Dyscalculia Academy Journal are licensed under the “Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License”. This license grants the right to reproduce, share and disseminate all publications, data sets, graphics and attachments on data mining applications, search engines, websites, blogs, and all other platforms, if the source is cited. Open access is an approach that facilitates interdisciplinary communication and encourages different disciplines to work with each other. In this direction, Dyscalculia Academy Journal provides added value to its field by providing more access to its manuscripts and a more transparent review process.

Dyscalculia Academy Journal recommends that the libraries to include the contents of the journal in their catalogs as part of Dyscalculia Academy Journal’s open access policy.
The Dyscalculia Association, the publisher of the Dyscalculia Academy Journal, undertakes that it will not charge subscriptions or fees for accessing electronic publications’ full texts from any library or reader.

Full text manuscripts in Dyscalculia Academy Journal are published in both Turkish and English languages. The journal does not provide any translation services in this context but offers various accredited companies to the author(s) for further guidance.
Language editorial or proofreading processes requested by the Dyscalculia Academy Journal Editorial Board in line with the suggestions from the field editors or referees are asked from the specified companies.

The plagiarism control, layout and typesetting, bibliography, referencing and citation control, and the tangible responsibility of all the works aligned with publication as a result of the blind review process under the responsibility of the author.

Privacy Notice

Personal information such as names and e-mail addresses entered in the Diskalkuli Academy journal management system will only be used for the scientific purposes of this journal. This information will not be used for any other purpose or department and will not be shared with third parties.

Archiving

Metadata and full texts of all manuscripts published in Dyscalculia Academy Journal are stored in XML and .pdf format on a 3rd party cloud server in an inaccessible manner.

Sponsorship and Advertising

Dyscalculia Academy Journal does not accept sponsorship and advertisement within the scope of publication policies. However, for the purposes of Dyscalculia Academy Journal, non-profit scientific and educational events may be announced on the website.

The Dyscalculia Association was established in Muş in 2017 by many academicians who are experts in their fields. Dyscalculia Association is the first and only association provides services in the field of dyscalculia in Türkiye.
